What This Conference is All About
  • This conference is the first-of-its-kind and in 2019 will begin the 2nd year in attempting to address the problem of not having a clearly agreed upon definition of Islamic Psychology and how to utilize this concept to treat community members as individuals, couples and families.

  • The CMMHIP brings together Islamic scholars & mental health professionals who treat Muslim clients to discuss how Islam views the core components that make up a psychological perspective from the theory to practice.

  • This year the conference expands to four days and will include an extra piece of an interfaith breakfast and a networking luncheon.

  • Each session consists of two Islamic scholars and a mental health discussant who has a caseload of  of more than or close to 50% Muslim clients.

  • This is a working conference so the aim is to work not focus on presenting papers, however research is focused on in the presentation of material. Writings will be produced after the conference and are not expected prior to.

  • The schedule of sessions includes many different aspects of psychology and relational work.

  • This conference is great for Academics, Mental Health Professionals, Clergy and Islamic Scholars as well as interested community members.
